Karela - Natural Glycemic Control
Karela, known as melon or bitter gourd, guarantees a series of medicinal benefits and is a key herb in Ayurvedic treatments. The fruit of Karela is considered emetic, purgative, anti-bilious, tonic, stomachic and stimulating. It is particularly appreciated for its effectiveness in the treatment of diabetes mellitus; Recent medical studies have indicated that it contains "vegetable insulin" which helps to lower blood sugar levels.
Antidiabetic - helps keep blood sugar levels under control with compounds called Charantin and Momordicin and also significantly reduces hyperglycemia, glycosylated hemoglobin, total cholesterol level and free fatty acid level.
Insulin-mimetic (similar to insulin) - insulin is responsible for maintaining normal blood glucose levels. Karela, thanks to its action, similar to that of insulin and which causes an increase in its secretion, helps reduce excessive glucose levels. It also has antioxidant properties.
Hepatoprotector - Karela fruit extract, as shown, significantly increases glutathione s-transferase enzymes, glutathione peroxidase enzymes and catalase enzymes in the liver, preventing hepatotoxicity.
Lipid - Karela compounds improve lipid profiles. They reduce the secretion of Apolipoprotein B and Apoliprotein C-III in the liver, lipoproteins present in "not good" cholesterol (LDL), and increase Apolipoprotein a-1, the main protein component of high density cholesterol or "good" cholesterol. The cellular triglyceride content is also reduced. The fruits and seeds of Karela have shown to decrease the levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol.
Composition
The fruit and seed of Karela contain a polypeptide, p-insulin, considered structurally and pharmacologically similar to bovine insulin. They are also rich in Vitamins A and C, beta-carotene, phosphorus, iron and potassium.
Dosage
1 capsule twice a day after meals.
