How does it work?
The molecular structure of Astaxanthin is long and thin, at both ends with "polar" groups compatible with water, while the central segment is "non-polar" and incompatible with water. This molecular structure allows astaxanthin to move in cell membranes without substantially affecting the membrane structure, providing powerful protection against cell damage, such as damage caused by free radicals. All cells have membranes, and maintaining the health of these membranes is critical for the cell to function properly. Each cell membrane is an ultra-thin sheet of lipids into which enzymes and other catalytic proteins are embedded. The intense metabolic activities within the cell membranes generate highly reactive substances known as "free radicals".
